I love this time of year. The air is cooler, the leaves are still bright and colorful, and for the most part, people try to be kind, joyful and strive for peace.
I look forward to the first snow and the crisp beauty of the white covered trees. The pristine yard, void of tracks in the snow and waiting for someone to fill it with snow angels and snow men.
There’s nothing like walking into a home warmed by a crackling fire. Or the fragrant aroma of fresh bread, cookies or pies baking in the oven.
My Aunt Ruth would spread out cookie tins on the table and start baking cookies and fudge of all kinds and shapes to share with her friends and family. Gifts made by hand, crafted with love and given from the heart.
I’m trying to keep these things in mind as this winter season approaches. I’m trying to remember the simple things that are important in life. It’s not easy when you’re struggling with finances. But all we can do is try.
